Translation
The emperor of the South Sea was called Shu, the emperor of the North Sea was called Hu, and the emperor of the center was called Hundun (Chaos). Shu and Hu often met in the territory of Hundun, and Hundun treated them very kindly. Shu and Hu discussed how to repay Hundun's virtue. They said: 'All men have seven openings to see, hear, eat, and breathe. Hundun alone has none. Let us try drilling some.' Each day they drilled one hole, and on the seventh day Hundun died.
