Translation
When Zhuangzi's wife died, Huizi came to offer his condolences. He found Zhuangzi sitting with his legs sprawled out, drumming on a tub and singing. Huizi said: 'You lived with her, raised children, grew old together. Not weeping at her death would be enough, but drumming on a tub and singing — isn't that too much?' Zhuangzi said: 'Not so. When she first died, how could I not feel grief? But I looked back to the beginning — originally there was no life. Not only no life, but originally no form. Not only no form, but originally no vital breath.'
