Translation
A tiger hunted the beasts for his food and caught a fox. The fox said, 'You dare not eat me. The Emperor of Heaven has made me chief over all the beasts. If you eat me now, you defy the command of Heaven. If you think me untrustworthy, I will walk ahead of you, and you follow behind, and watch whether any of the beasts dare not flee at the sight of me.' The tiger thought this reasonable, and so went along with him. The beasts saw them and all fled. The tiger did not know that the beasts fled in fear of himself, and thought instead that they feared the fox.
