Translation
Among the people of Song there was a farmer. In his field stood the stump of a tree. A rabbit, running by, struck the stump, broke its neck, and died. Thereupon the farmer set aside his plough and kept watch by the stump, hoping to get another rabbit. But no other rabbit could be got, and he became the laughingstock of the state of Song.
